To remove or not to remove.
If the roots of a baby tooth are keeping it from falling out, it might be time to remove the tooth. Such a procedure will allow the permanent tooth to grow into its correct position. There are also instances where the decay of a tooth causes the other teeth around it to become at risk. In these situations, Southeast Smiles sometimes suggests the removal of the affected tooth. As part of removing a tooth, Southeast Smiles may recommend replacing the tooth or holding the space for the permanent tooth. This is to prevent future problems with shifting teeth. Removing a tooth can often be done during your regular checkup. However, there are also times where scheduling another visit may be best. Extractions are usually a quick process, and we’ll have a conversation about sedation options that will help in making it a comfortable procedure for your child.
